All conductive material such as Aluminum, Copper, Stainless Steel, Titanium, Tungsten, Molybdenum, and Tungsten Carbide can be cut on an EDM machine.
If you need information about a specific material's properties, Please contact our sales engineering department for details.
This is a trick question. The Wire EDM can not create holes but can open up existing holes. The Wire EDM can open up any hole as long as the wire can fit through the existing hole. The hole must be pre drilled before inserting the wire. For example, an .008" wire can open up an existing hole to .010"-.012" hole size. Smaller wire sizes can possibly open up smaller holes, however other methods may be more cost effective.
Please contact us for more information regarding the wire EDM machine capabilities.
We can make .0008" holes x .008" deep using our Micro EDM machine. 10 to 1 aspect ratio is a typical rule of thumb for depth of holes. Smaller holes and higher aspect ratios may be achievable upon request.
Please contact our sales engineering department for more information regarding Sinker EDM and Micro EDM.
Standard .008" diameter wire produces a .004"-.005" fillet (inside corner radius). We can make fillets as small as .002"-.003" by changing to a .004" diameter wire. The fillet is equal to 1/2 the wire diameter plus the spark gap.
Please contact our sales engineering department for more information regarding Wire EDM capabilities.
The typical surface finish from Wire or Sinker EDM machine is between 32-64 RA which works for most applications. We can achieve rougher or smoother surfaces if desired.
If a different surface finish is needed, please contact our sales engineering department for more information.
